A few days ago, my wife told me she had something exciting planned to help with her blog content. I had no clue what she was talking about until a package arrived at our home. To my surprise, it was a...
pregnancy experience suit! 😱
She said she hesitated before ordering it, but since she's been so dedicated to her blog lately, she went for it. I assumed she got it through a free rental, like when she went to the health center early in her pregnancy. However, she had rented it for a fee from a website (why go to such lengths? 😨).
The cost was high considering the minimal components provided – it almost seemed like a scam. 🤔 Nevertheless, with the due date approaching, we decided to give it a try.
Wearing the Pregnancy Experience Suit
It was heavier than I thought, mimicking the weight of being 7-8 months pregnant (about 6.5kg). I'm already a bit hefty, and with the suit, even more so. 😧
I hadn't seen my wife this enthusiastic in a while, from renting the suit to wearing it. She showed me a reel she posted on her Instagram. The background music was playful, suggesting she was happy sharing the experience.
Missions
Once she wore the suit, she handed me a list of tasks to accomplish for the day. I started with the easy ones.
Eating & Napping
Eating and taking a nap was easy for me, especially since I've been gaining weight lately. However, sleeping with the suit was uncomfortable; the weight distribution made it hard to find a comfortable position. Still, my wife remarked I looked more comfortable than expected, almost regretting not getting a heavier suit. 😧
Inside missions like picking up items and folding laundry caught my eye. I decided to tackle these before heading outside.
Dishwashing
I do dishes daily, but with the suit, my belly kept bumping into the sink. My wife said this task was to help me understand her struggles when cooking.
Picking up Objects & Laundry Folding
Bending to pick up items wasn’t easy due to the suit's weight. I wondered if squatting was better. 😲
Sitting for long periods, even without the suit, made my legs numb and my weight added to the challenge.
Wearing Socks
After completing the indoor tasks, I prepared to go outside and began with putting on socks. It was trickier than expected; standing made it even more challenging. With that done, it was time for some outdoor missions. 😅
Walking & Climbing Stairs
Walking with the suit changed my gait, and I found myself waddling. After my wife pointed it out, I tried walking straight. After a long walk, we headed to Starbucks, using the stairs as an excuse for a coffee break. ☕️ We enjoyed our drinks and the view until sunset before heading home.
Review
After completing all tasks, I kept the suit on until about 9 PM.
"A 10-hour Experience"
Though it wasn't a lengthy trial, it gave me a glimpse into the discomforts my pregnant wife faces daily. While I couldn’t feel the exact pains like leg cramps, tailbone aches, or bladder pressure, I did understand the daily inconveniences due to pregnancy. Experiencing this made me appreciate my wife and all expecting mothers even more. A round of applause for all pregnant women out there! 👏
